Do you happen to own a Chromebook? If so, you may have caught wind of the issues some users have experienced when using headphones on their Chromebook. Well, don’t let these audio problems prevent you from enjoying your device to the fullest. Check out some of the common problems with headphones on Chromebook and how you can go about fixing them without the need for technical support.
Headphones Won’t Fully Plug In
If your headphones won’t plug all the way into the audio jack of your Chromebook, this could be due to the unique design of the device. You have to give the adapter a good push in order to make sure it is applied correctly. (You should hear a “click” sound.) If you don’t hear the “click”, the headphones have not been fully attached yet.
The Audio Is Muted
Another common complaint of Chromebook users is that they can’t seem to figure out how to unmute the audio. This is understandable though because the audio settings can be a little tricky. You’ll likely have to go into your account settings on your device and make sure the audio is set at the volume desired. Also, make sure you are plugging the headphones into the correct jack instead of the one for speakers.
Audio STILL Won’t Play
If you have tried everything you can think of to get the audio of your Chromebook working properly to no prevail, you may have to proceed with completely resetting your device. Just keep in mind that doing so will wipe everything off of your Chromebook, so you’ll need to backup all of your data before you begin. To reset, go to ‘Settings’, click on ‘Show Advanced Settings’, find the “Powerwash” label and then click “Reset”. A separate window will open where you will need to click “Restart”. Once the Chromebook has erased itself and restarted, you will the be prompted to setup the device by entering your Google account login. Follow all of the steps and then try the audio again. It should work!
